Is Entrepreneurship all about becoming a software Entrepreneur?

VC's coming into India have the sole intention of investing in either software companies or internet based companies. What really bother's me is due to the VC's interests aspiring entrepreneur's are thinking narrowly and are getting restricted in their ideas and innovations to start a business as an internet or software based company.

Even Eureka!!! competition tends to be inclined to select software based business plans.

Google plan's to buyout YouTube!!!

If rumors r to be believed Google is planning to takeover YouTube for a price tag of 1.6 Billion dollars. Update: There is no smoke without fire. Google did buy it out buy is intent on keeping it the way it is, instead of changing it to Google Videos.

For once India is gonna beat China

Yeah folks!!! If the stats are to be believed there were 5.2 million new subscribers in India, and in near future we will be over taking China. For once the Tiger is gonna get an upper hand on the Dragon. Hope this is gonna apply in other fields as well.

Try "tyroo"

Tyroo the new internet advertising company based in India (started in june,2006) helps you add new revenue streams to your website. This is really useful since the google adsense restricts a webpage to publish only three ads and the remaining space is left vacant, Now you can fill this vacant areas witth tyroo ads.

Have'nt got the balls to become an Entrepreneur? Than become an Intrapreneur

Ever heard of Scott Gatz? Yeah he is an Intrapreneur at Yahoo.

So who is an Intrapreneur?
Intrapreneur is a person who focuses on innovation and creativity and who transforms a dream or an idea into a profitable venture, by operating within the organizational environment. Thus, Intrapreneurs are Inside entrepreneurs....

Its basically for someone who is faint hearted and not willing take any personal risks and who has little trust in his own ideas.

But there are few advantages for Intrapreneurs, They have the resources available and can stand better chances of getting noticed.

You can buy Experience but not Energy

Many parents prefer to see there kids get into good educational institutions and find a good job. They want there kids to settle down quickly and stay that way forever, if you are inclined towards Entrepreneurship you are immediately discouraged because they dont want you to take any kind of risks(which comes to there mind as soon as u suggest:"I am gonna start my own business")

So how do they go about convincing you?
1. Son you are too young for such things.
2.They start with giving you few good examples about your uncles or cousins who have taken up business and are bankrupted and looking for alms from others. And when you suggest the names of the ones who made it big they would immediately come to the conclusion that they were just one of those lucky persons who were destined to become rich.
3.They would suggest you rather get a good job and when you gain experience in the field of your expertise and when you get matured enough then you can start your business that way your chances of getting rich or more.

Why you should not buy this idea from your parents?
1. You are too young: In the new economy of the global village no one is too young or too old to do things that they are passionate about. I would rather say if you have crossed the age of 25 years you are too old to start a business or understand the new economy and how it works. Do you doubt me? look at this and tell me if you are younger than anyone of them mentioned in the website. http://www.youngbiz.com/
2. Business means risk: Those stats are always there. Because there are always two sides to a coin, And as always parents wanna look at the failures rather than at success stories. Most of those people failed because they never had a plan or a vision or a passion for the things they were doing. They just did it because they were not willing to work under someone or they blindly invested in such ventures due to the success of other individuals.
3. Get experience and than you can start your own business: Yeah experience, so much of importance is given to experience which you can learn from others or from the books written by them. Ask anyone who had a success in their business if they had to start all over again what would they had done differently? They would tell you that "I wish I had started earlier then I really did".

By the time you are 35 years old and wanna start your business there would be many responsibilites on you such as job, children, buying your own home and family. At that particular time it would be because of your family you wont be able to enter a business and even if you did you have lot of time constrains and that spark and zeal and Energy would be missing and you wont be able to put in long hours as you would have had you started that business at the age of 20's.

So I tell you "You can buy Experience but not Energy."
And even if you do fail at the early age you can always find a job. If you have the passion for entrepreneurship than in the early stages u have to fight against your loved ones because what ever you are doing it is for your future as well as theirs. If you succeed they would be the ones who are proud of you and even if you fail they would never hate you for doing it because you are one of them and mistakes can be done by anyone.

PS: Thank god my parents don't suggest anything. They are happy as long as I am happy.

Creativity Vs Innovation

Many people consider both creativity and Innovation as one and the same. The fact is creativity is a part of innovation, Innovation is something which looks at the bigger picture.

Creativity: It is a process by which an individual or an organization generate ideas. This is essential for both artists and entrepreneurs. Myth: It is an art by birth. Fact: This particular art can be learnt. Creativity is not restricted to any individual this can be learnt by anyone who is willing to put in some time and energy.

Innovation: Many people have ideas regarding different things. But for something to happen or to take shape you need to be innovative. Innovation is not just restricted to "being a novel idea" it could be something which was there earlier but was not used for the exact purpose for which you intend to use it. Innovation has four layers: 1. Idea Generation (Creativity) 2. Evaluation 3. Development 4. Implementation So this is a process in which you not only need just creativity but also other aspects of product development such as project evaluation, development of the project and handling of the available resources and implementation of the project on hand.

Is LPO(Legal Process Outsourcing) the future of India Inc?

According to the stats and the hype given in the media and in the blogsphere this seems to be the next big wave in the outsourcing industry.

But let me do a simple maths to prove this industry is worth billions of dollars. Every year there are 3 million applications for patents in the US alone. To file for patent rights in USA it would cost 14,000 Dollars and if it is outsourced to India it would cost around 6,000 Dollars so they save around 8,000 dollars on each patent that would be filed.

So Multiply 30,00,000*6000=18000000000 US Dollars It can simply be stated as 18 Billion Dollars (No, I dont want to convert that into Indian Currency) This is only for a part of the industry I havent calculated many other streams in Legal services such as:

Litigation support Discovery analysis Discovery management, presentation & access Document abstraction, indexing & collation Exhibit preparation Transaction support Customized draft transactional documents Forms development & standardisation Form libraries & version histories Custom expert systems IPR services Application drafting Patent & trademark searches Patentability & infringement assessments Status tracking Legal research Customized work product Work product libraries Work product updating In-house research database Newsletters & journal articles Corporate secretarial Incorporation documents Statutory reports & filings Board and shareholder resolutions & minutes Resolution & minutes libraries Online tickler system Regulatory & compliance support Application & report drafting Document review & analysis Rules & regulations monitoring & tracking Administrative Services Conflict management Promotion & marketing Human resource management Business Process Consulting Requirements & feasibility studies Design & implementation of client-specific solutions Management of captive staff & facilities

So, in future I wont be suprised if the US government outsources it's Federal Courts to India and uses Indian judicial system and its Judges for cost cutting reasons(Pun Intended).

I myself being a Law Graduate would like to see this industry prosper so that in future more students (the ones with real talent who prefer being a doctor or an engineer rather than being a Lawyer) would be willing to take this noble profession.

Greetings for Raksha Bandhan

Happy Raksha bandhan.

Should Sex be legalised in India?

First of all let me be clear about the subject line, I am not trying to suggest anything in this blog, and I dont have any intention of creating any controversy. Look at this site and decide for yourselfs!!! www.liberator.net/articles/prostitution.html

Spiritual Soul : This is why I keep saying that you need to listen to me!!!

Your Birthdate: April 27
You are a spiritual soul - a person who tries to find meaning in everything.
You spend a good amount of time meditating, trying to figure out life.
Helping others is also important to you. You enjoy social activities with that goal.
You are very generous and giving. Yet you expect very little in return.

Your strength: Getting along with anyone and everyone

Your weakness: Needing a good amount of downtime to recharge

Your power color: Cobalt blue

Your power symbol: Dove

Your power month: September

Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans

This could well be true in the case of www.Naukri.com , the Indian online recruitment portal of Info Edge Ltd. Naukri.com is continously losing its market share in India with the entry of the other websites such as www.TimesJobs.com and www.Clickjobs.com. While Info Edge Ltd is busy making plans for there matrimonial portal ( www.JeevanSathi.com ) and there real etate portal of www.99acres.com I would rather like to see Info Edge Ltd concentrate on the recruitment portal and if possible diversify into niche jobsites rather than using there resources for the other sites.

The entry of vertical job search engines AKA www.Bixee.com and http://jobsearch.rediff.com/ are also bleeding the Naukri.com of its hard earned market share. Though they were able to win a case against www.Bixee.com they ended up advertising in the vertical job search engine of www.rediff.com
